NYC SkyScrapers

Updated: Oct 2, 2024

There are numerous skyscrapers in NYC that you can visit, but I'd like to focus on the most significant ones that are popular among tourists.

I'm going to list them in the order that I personally enjoyed visiting, from my first to last choice. Additionally, there are a couple that I didn't visit, and I will explain why on this page.

Tickets for this attraction can be purchased here. There are several reasons why I enjoyed visiting this building.

The first and second floors of the experience offer great photo opportunities of the city.

One standout feature is its excellent view of the Empire State Building, which I consider to be the most beautiful building in NYC.

The windows are clean, minimizing reflections when taking photos. Additionally, there's a unique balloon experience that's quite popular, especially for Instagram enthusiasts. I, too, managed to snap a few pictures there.

For the SUMMIT Signature Experience, the prices are as follows: Adults are charged $57, while Youth are charged $51.

You can buy tickets for this attraction here. Honestly, I found it a bit disappointing for a few reasons. First, I expected the triangular window section to be larger than it actually was. Second, there weren't many clear views for taking pictures of the Empire State Building, as it seemed too far away from this location.

However, the Edge still ranks second on my list because it offers an open view of the rest of the city. Just keep in mind that the weather should be good if you plan to visit. Indoor pictures don't turn out as nice.

For general admission to the Edge, the prices are as follows: Adults are charged $40, Children are $35, and Seniors are $38.

Located atop the historic Rockefeller Center, the Top of the Rock offers a unique perspective of New York City. The Rockefeller Center itself is a notable landmark, with a rich history dating back to the 1930s. It's known for its annual Christmas tree lighting, ice skating rink, and the NBC studios.

From the Top of the Rock, you can get a straight-on view of the Empire State Building, which is a rare sight. However, due to the size of the balcony and the potential for window reflections, capturing that perfect photo might be a bit challenging. That's a minor drawback for me.

If you've already visited the Edge and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, then the Top of the Rock should be your next stop. It offers a different view and a chance to soak in some of the city's history. Despite any minor inconveniences, the experience of seeing New York City from this vantage point is something you won't want to miss.

The prices are as follows: Adults are charged $40, children between the ages of 6 and 12 are $34, and seniors aged 62 and over are $38.

To be honest, I didn't visit the top of the Empire State Building. The reason is simple: I believe the Empire State Building is the most beautiful structure in midtown NYC, and you can't see the Empire State Building from the Empire State Building itself!

However, it's worth noting that the Empire State Building itself is steeped in history. Completed in 1931, it was the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years. It's an Art Deco masterpiece and a symbol of New York City's skyline. The building has been featured in countless movies and is a must-see for anyone visiting the city.

For the Empire State Building, the prices are as follows: For the 86th floor, adults are $44, children are $38, and seniors are $42. For combined access to both the 102nd and 86th floors, adults are $79, children are $73, and seniors are $77.

I've never been to the top of this building for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I worked for two years next to this building, so I feel like I've already seen what I could from this perspective. Secondly, it's quite distant from other buildings, which makes it hard to take a nice picture unless you have a camera with a 400mm lens.

For the One World Observatory, the general admission prices are as follows: Adults are charged $44, Youth are $38, and Seniors are $42.
